Songcraft Theme for May: 60’s Music!
May 14, 2007 by Jeremy
Hope you’re all having fun working on your new songs!
Our next meetup is gonna be on Friday, 18th May ‘07. Just like our first session, it will start at 730pm at the Substation (see this link to locate the Substation).
Every month, we shall have a special theme, or musical genre. The theme for this coming session is “60’s Music”.
In addition to sharing all your own general songs of any genre you wish (as per what we did the first session), everyone is encouraged to challenge your artistic abilities and broaden your horizons by trying to come up with at least one song that fits the genre of 60’s music.
(No worries if you won’t be able to do it…it’s all just for fun.)
…
Some info on 60’s Music:
This description is by no means comprehensive, but the 60’s music genre was characterised by movements such as the British Invasion (e.g. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Monkees), and the folk rock movement (e.g. Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Joan Baez, The Byrds).
To help you get inspiration, here are some artists and songs which were big during the 60’s:
