Ok, let’s begin.
Firstly, the new venue at the YMS Arts Centre was Perfect with a capital “P”. I was extremely pleased with it, from the soundproofed walls, to the cosiness of the small but comfortable room, to the Yamaha upright at our disposal, to the quality of the chairs in the room, to the dedicated [...]

I’m currently working on the usual full recap of our latest Songcraft Session held on Friday night. I will post up the full recap (together with all the sound clips) probably in the next few days.
In the meanwhile, I was just pondering about some of the reflections I had after the latest session.
One thing which I realised is [...]

“Bitter” – A Lovely Instrumental Composed by Jerron
Posted in Composers, Recording, Songs on October 12, 2007 | 3 Comments »
I recently chanced upon this lovely piano piece which Jerron composed.
According to the composer, this song is “about a guy having the bitter feeling after somehow being rejected by a girl he likes.”
Anyway, the slightly rougher (but no less beautiful) cut can be heard at his podcast weblog (here). (Check out the applause at the [...]

This is interesting.
Ivan recently teamed up with his long-lost pal Adrian, and they have decided to collaborate on an album entitled “SeaStars 2007″, slated for release this December.
The official album blog is here: http://seastars2007.wordpress.com/
Why is the album called “SeaStars”? Well, this post sheds some light.
To quote from the post: “He (Ivan) mentioned that he was in Australia [...]

Posted in Composers, Concert, Lyricists, Performance, Singapore, Songs, Songwriters, Songwriting on October 2, 2007 | 9 Comments »
Dear Songcrafters,
I will be organising a year-end mini-concert (or to use a less intimidating word, “showcase”) specially designed for all of us. It will be an event whereby those who are keen can get a chance to formally present your original songs (be it your old or new songs) to a small but eager audience, and hopefully [...]

He has quite a few new songs up on it already.

What’s In A Name (An Instrumental Piece by Firdaus)

The full background story to this piece can be read at Firdaus’s blog (here).
I was quite pleasantly surprised at hearing this piece, cos it’s quite a departure from what I had come to expect from Firdaus.
To be honest, I have no idea how he came up with this, but I think it’s very [...]
