To write a song is one of the most special things a person can do. It is almost like creating magic - with all that feeling and emotion captured in a little blissful marriage of music & lyrics.
I’m sure you have, at some point in your life, attempted to write a song too. And if there is anything more fulfilling than writing a song, it is touching other people’s hearts through your song.
And that is mainly why the Songcraft Songwriting Circle was started - to allow local songwriting enthusiasts in Singapore an opportunity to share their own songs with others.
Anyone who’s attended the Songcraft sessions before would tell you that it is one thing to write a song in the comfort of your own room, and it is quite another experience altogether sharing it to a roomful of passionate songwriters.
The experience is priceless.

Bio
The Songcraft Songwriting Circle is a songwriting circle based in Singapore, and held its inaugural session in April of 2007 at a humble little classroom in the Substation. It has since relocated to its current “home” at the YMS Arts Centre.
Songcraft serves as a little forum for songwriting enthusiasts of all levels to meet together on a monthly basis to share their original works with one another in a casual and intimate setting, as well as to exchange ideas and just socialise with other like-minded folk who share the same passion.
The basic aims of the circle are simply to:
- Celebrate the art of songwriting in Singapore
- Promote the passion for songwriting in Singapore
The whole idea is to create a forum for local songwriting enthusiasts to perform their works, receive helpful comments, share ideas, offer advice, exchange songwriting tips and techniques, and basically socialise and network with fellow songwriting enthusiasts.
We are honoured to do our little part to inspire local songwriters to write so many wonderful songs, as well as fuel their passion for songwriting.

The Songcraft Logo

The Songcraft official logo is designed by Barffie.
Many thanks to Barffie for designing what is in my opinion an exceedingly beautiful logo.
The black “S” and the red “C”, which together stand for the word “Songcraft”, resemble a treble clef and bass clef respectively. And this “musical” theme ties in perfectly with the very nature of the Songcraft Songwriting Circle.
Thank you once again, Barffie.
